Sensory Deprivation

My topic of isolation has lead me to think about sensory deprivation. The stage of my course I am doing at the moment encourages lots of experimentation. I decided to do a photographic piece of somebody with their head wrapped in gaffa tape (no it wasn't stuck directly onto her skin). This constricts sight, smell and hearing. The photo above is one my favourite, I find that when the subjects eyes are covered they become less connected with the outside world and loose a part of their identity. I found this quite disturbing. After the photo shoot in interviewed the subject she said the whole thing was 'somewhat sexual', I suppose sight can cause someone to feel vulnerable and heighten other senses.
